‘Conversations’ Ep. 85- Kari Wahlgren

On Wednesday, June 28th, Brett and Mike were very excited to welcome, voiceover artist and actress, Kari Wahlgren to ‘Conversations’ on NextBigThingRadio.Net!

Kari Wahlgren’s voice-over career began on her 11th birthday. While on vacation in California, she toured a recording studio. During the tour, she was approached to audition for the role of Gloria in a radio drama. The producers loved her and booked her on the spot.

Kari is not in Kansas anymore! Since her arrival in Los Angeles, she has built a phenomenal resume’ as an actress and voiceover artist. Her first role as Haruko in FLCL remains a fan favorite, and her voice can be heard in Emmy and Academy Award-winning animated films and TV shows that include Wolverine & The X-Men, Archer,  Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, Lego DC Comics Superheroes: Justice League Cosmic Clash, Bunnicula, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Robin in Witch Hunter Robin and Hellsing. Video Game voiceovers include Uncharted 4, Skylanders, Fallout 4, Skyrim, Guild Wars 2, Marvel Heroes, and Transformers: War for Cybertron.

Kari’s incredible voice talents can currently be heard as Amanda in Bunsen Is a Beast, Starfire in Justice League vs. Teen Titans, Tigress in Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness, Chloe Carmichael in The Fairly Odd Parents, Jessica in Rick and Morty, a female Jedi Knight in Star Wars: The Old Republic and Ashe in Final Fantasy XII. You can hear her voice as Aranea in the new Square Enix game Final Fantasy XV released on Xbox One and PS4. Kari will voice Aunt Cora in the new Netflix and DreamWorks Original Series, Spirit Riding Free. She also will be returning to Rick and Morty for season 3 in summer 2017. Kari will also play Jamie in Open Road’s The Nut Job 2, coming to theaters on August 18th!

She also produced and wrote a short film, Girl #2, which premiered at the 12th Annual HollyShorts Film Festival in 2016 as well as Shriekfest in Los Angeles. Her film won “Best Short” at the New Orleans Film Festival as well.

‘Conversations’ Ep. 77- Shree and Greg Crooks

On Wednesday, March 22nd, at 11pm Eastern, 8pm Pacific, Actors and father/daughter duo Shree and Greg Crooks join Brett and Mike for ‘Conversations’ Episode 77!

Shree Crooks

Shree Crooks is an American television and film actress. She began her career doing commercials, including the beautiful 2012 Olympic spot for Proctor and Gamble, “Best Job”, directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu. She was also featured in a commercial for the Google Tablet when it was first being released.

Her big break was getting cast in “Captain Fantastic”, written and directed by Matt Ross, and starring Viggo Mortensen. For this performance she was nominated for a Screen Actors Award and brought to Cannes and Sundance Film Festival. She has had reoccurring roles on Ray Donovan (Season Three) and American Horror Story: Hotel. She currently has two movies that will be out sometime this year or next.

Shree is the lead and title character in a Blumhouse film titled, “Stephanie”, and plays a young Maureen in Brie Larson’s future flick, “Glass Castle”. Most recently, Shree was in Sweden filming the title role in a short of Hans Christian Andersen’s, “Little Match Girl”.

Shree enjoys hiking, biking, reading, walking to the mall with friends, and going to the spa with her mom. She’ll still endure making videos with her dad, which they’ve been doing since she was a baby. Their most successful video to date is called, “dope dad/cool kid” and can be found on YouTube.

Shree can play the violin and guitar, and is an aspiring singer-songwriter. She is also an artist. Shree is almost 12 years old and is getting pimples and argues with her parents more than she used to.

Greg Crooks

Greg Crooks is the funniest guy that he’s ever met. He’s pretty moody and has a bad temper. He sometimes skips too many days between showers. Greg is an actor, writer, and singer. He also dabbles in making short videos and posting them on YouTube.

Greg Crooks has been on TV and has been in jail. He graduated from The Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, (PCPA), and received a BFA from Marymount Manhattan University. These accomplishments have lead to Greg being a successful barista and waiter.

Greg has acted in plays and had plays that he’s written acted by other people. For many years he performed his own One Man Show – “A Crooks Cabaret”, all around Los Angeles. He likes to hike in the hills, bicycle, cook, watch documentaries, and ride motorcycles. His heroes are Michael Landon, John Lennon and most cats.

Greg Crooks is currently studying at UCLA to be a mindfulness meditation facilitator. He is 41 years old and weights about 150 lbs. He could stand to bulk up and lose some belly fat…just sayin’.

‘Conversations’ Episode 76- Mateus Ward

On Thursday, March 9th, Brett and Mike are excited to welcome actor Mateus Ward to ‘Conversations’!

Mateus Ward was born in Burbank, California, but was raised on the island of Maui in Hawaii. He is the son of an American father, producer/director/filmmaker Justin Ward, and an Italian immigrant mother, Laura Di Nardo (Laura Ward). His first role was in a live musical theater production where he impersonated Elvis, and then was offered the role of Winfield Joad in the stage production of “The Grapes of Wrath” at the Maui Academy of Performing Arts. In 2009, his family moved back to Los Angeles, where Mateus pursued acting in television and film. In 2010, he appeared in several short films and national commercials. His television debut was on the CBS network’s dramatic police procedural “Criminal Minds.”

Ward’s natural style of acting caught the eye of Director Larry Charles, and he was cast in the 20th Century Fox Sitcom Comedy Pilot “Outnumbered” with Cheech Marin and Ana Ortiz. In 2011, he was asked to Guest Star in a sketch comedy on the “Sports Show with Norm Macdonald” on Comedy Central, for which he was nominated for a Young Artist Award and won an OMNI Youth Music and Actor Award for Outstanding Actor. That same year, Mateus also appeared on NBC’s successful drama “Parenthood.”

In 2012, Mateus landed a recurring Guest Star role on Disney XD’s teen sitcom “Lab Rats,” Guest Starred on CBS’s “N.C.I.S.” and won the 2012 Young Artist Award for his recurring role on the two-part series finale of Showtime’s comedy-drama “Weeds.” He also appeared in the award-winning independent feature film “Lonely Boy,” where he portrays a teenager with schizophrenia.

Mateus Ward

In the Fall of 2013, Mateus was a series regular with Toni Collette, Dylan McDermott and Tate Donovan on the Warner Bros. TV / Jerry Bruckheimer limited series “Hostages” on CBS. In 2015, Mateus joined the cast as a series regular of TNT’s “Murder in the First” Season 2 as Dustin Maker.

Mateus is currently the lead in the Independent Feature Film “The Meanest Man in Texas.”
